The Saga of the Life Jackets

So this week we bought a boat. This has some story behind it, but I will leave that to another time.

This story is about life jackets. In order for the girls to be in the boat they need life jackets. We don't have any that fit the girls, so off I went to Big 5 after VBS on Tuesday night. They didn't really have any youth size vests that the girls could wear comfortably. They had nylon ones, but those after a while are uncomfortable and scratchy. So Wednesday we went to town early, before VBS, to look for life vests a couple of other places. However, we had no such luck so we ended up purchasing the nylon ones at Big 5, but I couldn't help feeling like I was wasting the money, because I knew that when we finally did find the ones the girls really wanted we would end up buying them and then I'd have 2 life jackets that weren't being used.

Those of you who know life jackets know that the neoprene ones are just more comfortable. Especially if you are a kid and have to wear your life jacket the whole time you are on the boat. So I made a call to a boating place about 70 miles to the south and they said they had some girl ones in. So I piled 4 girls into the car and off we went to go pick up these life jackets. They were so excited about their life vests. They were all so good and I even made them shop at Costco. We did get stuck in traffic on the way home and Aubrey told me it was "the worst day ever". I don't really think so since they had smiles on their faces pretty much the whole time.
So here they are all decked out in their vests. They even included a little cheer. Too funny.

They do look adorable and I am so glad you found some that they like. Glad Aubrey is not dramatic or anything???

Thanks for making the trip. I think you are going to have a great birthday weekend.

The deleted comment was mine - I had a grammar error so I thought I would try it again.

Are you bringing the boat on your trip north? The boat ramp and river are only about a mile away!
