Airplane Rides

Today was the last day of the Aviation and Aerospace camp that I volunteer at. The activity for the day was airplane rides. I was fortunate enough to be able to bring Aubrey, Alyssa, Tori and Emma so they could have rides. Tori has never been in an airplane at all. The others have ridden in jets, but Emma is the only one that has ever taken a ride in a small airplane. Everyone did great. Alyssa rode by herself in a two seater. She sat in the front and looked like the pilot. Tori sat in the front in another airplane while Aubrey and I rode in back. Aubrey was pretty scared. She didn't like the bumps. Emma rode with her cousin. They had the first ride. What was so funny is that when she landed I noticed that her door was open before they had come to a stop. I was all ready to give her the stern lecture about how important it is to keep the door shut until the plane stops and the pilot tells her to open the door. However, the pilot told me that as soon as they had taken off her door opened, although the air keep it only open a crack and then when they landed it opened on its own. Emma said she was a little freaked out that she could see to the ground through the opening, but she was able to laugh about it when she got out of the plane.
