Quick Trip

Finally made it back home from visiting Mark's family. We drove down Thursday (such a long drive). On Friday, we took Burger King lunch to Isabella. Aubrey and Olivia didn't think it would be very cool if we came and had lunch with them. I guess eating lunch with relatives isn't very cool when you are in 8th and 10th grade. Isabella thought it was okay though. After lunch Emma got to stay at school with Isabella. After school I asked her how it was. She said, "OK, but kind of boring". I guess school is school no matter where you go. After lunch I helped Kristi in the shop and then we went to her house for dinner. Eliudi did the BBQing. He did a great job. The girls and I had a photo shot. They were all willing to put up with me and all smiled beautifully for the camera. All but Tori that is. Notice she is not in the above picture.
Saturday we went swimming at the river. The river by Kristi's is so different than any river we have here. It is the end of August, yet it was still deep, had a good current moving the water, and didn't really have any green slime growing along the edges. It took Emma a few minutes to decide it was ok to swim in a river, but then she was all over the place. She even jumped in from the top of a really tall rock. Tori wanted to but Mark and I didn't think she was quite ready. She did jump in from a lower rock. She also went with me down into the rapids. To get back though, we had a use our arms and pull ourselves up against the current using rocks. Both of our arms were so sore yesterday and today.

Seeing where the fire was and witnessing first hand how God really did protect Kristi's home was pretty awesome. The fire really did come up to the house and just stop. Seeing the other homes that were destroyed really made the whole thing real. You can see the big trees in the center of the picture that are brown. Those trees are in Kristi's front yard. Amazing.

Glad you had a safe trip and I am still amazed at how the fire stopped. God must have a plan for them.
